Faleen
A city in the west of Nasheen. Known for having a high concentration of magicians, which are stationed here to make them more easily available for the needs of the war, whether that is to create weapons or patch up dead and dying soldiers. Also notorious for its superior boxing gyms. People from around Nasheen congregate in Faleen for fights.
Additionally, it retains one of the last few docking stations on the planet capable of accomodating interstellar spacecraft.
From GOD'S WAR:
A three-hundred-year-old water purifying plant marked the edge of the old Faleenian city limits. The city itself had lapped at the organic filter surrounding the plant for half a century before a group of Chenjan terrorists set off a sticky burst that ate up flesh and metal, scouring the eastern quarter of the city and leaving the plant on the edge of a wasteland. The government had rebuilt the road and the plant, but the detritus of the eastern quarter remained a twisted ruin. Chenjan asylum seekers, draft dodgers, and foreign women had turned the devastated quarter into a refugee camp. A colorful stir of humanity wove through the ruins now, hawking avocados and mayflies and baskets of yellow roaches. Nyx caught the spicy stink of spent fire beetles and burning glow worms.
From INFIDEL:
The magicians’ gym in Faleen was probably one of the most secure places in the country, but for Nyx that safety was based on the assumption that the magicians inside its ever-shifting walls were on her side—the side of God, Queen, and county. Right? ...
Most bel dames had trained with the magicians at one time or another, including Nyx, and loyalty was a tricky thing. When she had come back from the front, the magicians handled her reconstitution in Faleen. After a stint working at the morgues to pay off her debts, they had even taught her how to box professionally. Nyx’s memories of Faleen were of pain and blood and body parts.
