Large country located on the west coast of the continent.

Geography Much of the interior of the country is blasted desert, with richer farming to be had on the coast and near coastal oases. The south turns to contaminated jungle near the southern border with Tirhan.

People The people of Chenja are tall and dark. Family groups typically consist of a single male household head and thirty or forty wives and their female children. Male children who are not first-born enter military training at age 7. Women typically marry between the ages of 12 and 15 or whenever menarche occurs. Male first-born children generally inherit the care of their father's wives and children at their father's death, and are encouraged to marry off any of their father's previous wives still of childbearing age or to take them as their own wives.

Women make up a vast number of the population inside the country (upwards of 75%). This means that though political, physical, and social power is male dominated, women still make up a large proportion of the work force, which has been sex-segregated. Women may drive, work, divorce (under certain circumstances), and are entitled to 25% of the money they earn. This money cannot be retained by the household head for the functioning and support of the household. Excessive physical abuse of women and childen is not tolerated, and household heads who violently abuse their charges are generally sentenced to the front and their eldest son raised to household head. The primary responsibility of household heads in Chenja is the care of the women and children in their household. Women and children without a household head responsible for them pitied, and often assigned to new families by the state, which is run by a powerful group of mullahs headed by an Iman.

Men and women are required to dress conservatively, which has also resulted in very low rates of cancer among the population (when compared with other ethnic groups on Umayma).

Food Chenjans typically enjoy bland fare, often covered in thick sauces and gravies. They do not generally eat meat, but instead grow and manufacture a "protein cake" that consists largely of soy and ground-up locusts. This particular food is not often available outside of Chenja.
